Cllr Oliver Johnstone and local campaigners, Lisa Walker and John Wright have launched a petition calling on Stockport Council to freeze local residents' Council Tax bills for 2023/24. During the summer, Stockport councillors set an ambition to help local people through the rising cost of living and your local Conservative team is determined to hold them to that promise.
Oliver said, "From speaking to local people in Norbury and Woodsmoor, I know that the top priority for residents is the rising cost of living. Thanks to Liberal Democrat and Labour Councillors at the Town Hall, our Council Tax shot up by an extra £80 for an average household, whilst the Council's reserves swelled to an eye-watering £120 million. Your local Conservative team and I are fighting to secure a Council Tax freeze this year to support residents with their living costs."
