Hazel Grove Conservative Councillor, Oliver Johnstone, is standing up for local residents over congestion on the A6 and local roads.
Oliver spoke up at a meeting of Stockport Council recently to give his support to the A6-M60 Bypass business case.
Following the meeting, Cllr Oliver Johnstone said, “Local residents in Hazel Grove have had to put up with more congestion and more broken promises on how to deal with it – enough is enough. We need Stockport Council to throw its full weight behind the A6 to M60 Bypass and give us our local high street back.”
As a regular train user, Oliver has been asking the Council and Transport for Greater Manchester to provide extra trains that were promised over 2 years ago to the Buxton to Manchester Piccadilly railway line. Over-crowding and delays are a common feature at Hazel Grove station most mornings and coming home the opposite way is not much better.
Cllr Oliver Johnstone said, “Residents using Hazel Grove Train Station are sick to the back teeth of dangerously over-crowded trains and consistent delays. We pay good money for our tickets and the service we receive is simply not good enough. It is time Transport for Greater Manchester gave Hazel Grove a fair deal and delivered the additional trains we were promised in 2015.”
