A6 Wellington Road to Re-open on 15th October - "We need answers!" says Cllr Oliver Johnstone
Stockport Council have announced that the A6 road bridge opposite Mersey Square is due to re-open on 15th October. Cllr Johnstone has requested a report on why the works were delayed to be brought to the Economy & Regeneration Scrutiny Committee. Oliver said, "This piece of work was always going to be a significant inconvenience to residents and commuters but to experience further delays, which are all too common of late with Stockport Council, is unacceptable. We need the Council to explain why we are yet again waiting longer than intended for work to be done."
St. Mary's Way Lane Restrictions due to start Monday 16th October
As reported last week, A6 Wellington Road is due to re-open on 15th October which in turn means that the works will have to restart at St Mary's Way.
Cllr Oliver Johnstone said, "When the work on the Wellington Road bridge started, the Council paused work on St Mary's Way and cleared the lane restrictions which had been in place for some time. Of course, this means that the St Mary's Way works need to be finished and I will keeping tabs to ensure they are completed in a timely manner."
